TARGET 7’S NANCY LAFLIN TELLS US HOW MANY ARE INFECTED AND WHEN THE CASES STARTED TO SPIKE. NANCY: THIS LATEST NURSING HOME IS IN THE HEART OF THE CITY. WE ARE TOLD THERE ARE MORE THAN 300 BEDS AT THIS FACILITY. THE STATE CONFIRMS PRINCETON PLACE NURSING HOME HAS MULTIPLE RESIDENTS AND STAFF WHO HAVE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19. IN A LETTER FROM MANAGEMENT ON THE FACILITY’S WEB SITE, THE MANAGER WRITES THERE ARE 23 COVID POSITIVE RESIDENTS AND 14 EMPLOYEES. LATE THIS AFTERNOON, THE STATE SENT A RELEASE SHOWING SEVERAL ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES AND GROUP HOMES THROUGHOUT NEW MEXICO HAVE STAFF OR RESIDENTS, OR BOTH, WITH COVID CASES. AT PRINCETON PLACE, WHICH IS LOCATED NEAR THE STATE FAIRGROUNDS, THE NUMBERS ARE VERY HIGH. WE DID REACH OUT TO THE MANAGEMENT. THE WOMAN WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE SAID THE MANAGER WASN’T AVAILABLE. >> SHE TOLD ME TO SEND AN EMAIL TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE. — CORPORATE OFFICE FOR COMMENT. I DID, AND SO FAR HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. More than a dozen staffers test positive for the virus

In a letter from a manager at Princeton Place posted on the facilities web site, the manager writes 14 people who work at Princeton Place have tested positive for COVID. He also said 23 residents have it too, and that people began testing positive June 16.Princeton Place has more than 300 beds in the facility, located near the state fairgrounds.We did reach out to management but have not heard back. The state reports more than 40 long term or acute care facilities in New Mexico have COVID cases involving residents, staff or both.
